Why We Rated This on for Ages 6 and Up

The good stuff

  • Educational value:

Most of the games require using your brain in some capacity -- from memory matching to picking items that don't belong.
  • Messages:

    Not an issue.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

    Not an issue.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

The site has a product section with links to buy everything Seuss that doesn't look much different from the other sections.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Seussville

Parents need to know that this hub for Seuss fans has a decent amount of simple games for kids (although they do know how to read as most of the short instructions don't have any voiceover). There's an entire section -- that looks like very similar to the other sections of the site -- with outside links to places to buy Seuss things, but there's no marketing or ads to be found.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about the phenomenon of Dr. Seuss. Why do you think his work is so popular? So you think all the books, DVDs, movies, toys, clothing, etc. is too much? Does the merchandising take away from the joy of the stories, or does it make them more accessible?
