There is cartoon violence because it is a superhero cartoon. The only educational value in this show is the vocabulary building.

Excellent choice
There is no doubt that once your child watches this show, his/her vocabulary will increase. The show takes a few words, teaches them, and uses them in context to reinforce the lesson. My 5 year old told me he was flabbergasted by his homework assignment and asked for help. The fact that the protagonist is a female adds to the fact that some heroes are actually heroines. It's a wonderful show, and my kids both love it.

I it! Absolutely love it!
I allow my children to watch it all of the time. They love learning new words and I hear them trying to utilize the words in the right context. My 4 year old daughter told me today that it is cumbersome to clean her room. She just turned 4. My 5 year old son uses the words all of the time. Words that he would not otherwise hear in pre-school. My 2 year old is following right behind them. This show is definitely a vehicle of learning for children of all ages.

Great brainfood for kids who love superheros
Of all the great new PBS shows, both my boys love this one best. At 4.5 & 5.5 yrs old, the fact that Wordgirl beats the bad guys has them totally hooked. They don't even realize they're learning vocabulary. Fantastic show, wish it was on more often.

Howlingly Funny and Educational Show gor Kids
WORLD GIRL is a fun show for all. It teaches kids vocabulary while being engaging and funny for even adults. No objectionable content, only the occasional "bang" or "whoosh" slapstick and animated superhero violence. Highly recommended.

Striking Fear into Stereotypes Everywhere
Although this show has some fantasy violence, it is by far outweighed by the positive portrayal of a strong female hero. This show targets an age group where female characters often take a more passive role. I like that WordGirl is able to be a hero, using primarily her smart rather than weapons. My son loves WordGirl, which trills me. Having a female hero (as opposed to a male hero) lets him see that women can be strong and capable. The violence is a of a completely goofy sort. For example the Butcher showered WordGirl with Chicken Cordon Blue. Another villian had a mustard gun. The vocabulary building component is excellent. The show introduces words, uses them in context, and reviews them in a game show portion of the show.

Favorite show, Builds great learning skills
Excellent show. Although my parents are a little iffy about it, (They don't like the fact that WordGirl lies all the time to protect her secret identity) I think its awesome. So fun and I find myself repeating the vocabulary maybe a little too much, enough to annoy my parents.

very educational, but the theme is pretty dark. In one episode this boy keeps whining... like "It's so LAME, like meat butcher's meat." I'd say, the only thing that is concerned is some mild fantasy violence and dark theme.

Believe it or not, this show is hillarious and funny. It's great to watch just for fun, even if you're not 5 years old. I'm 15. XD

My friend here the kirbster thinks its very goooooooooood and me too.
This is a pretty good show but the thing I dont like about it is that they only show it on fridays. Thats the only thing I hate about it. THEre is plenty of action in this and yet it is kind of well lets just say its kind of stupid sometimes like the butcher. Hes a bad guy he uses meat for attacks. Then huggy eats all the meat. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. MEat

cool show!
I like this show very much. Even though this show is suppose to be for kids, there is alot of punching, kicking, tackling for example worgirl pucnhes and topples robots! or when wordgirl kicks a big metal box and it crashes into mr. big (a evil bank guy)or when huggy face tackles doctor two brains (a evil scientist with two brain! you can see some of his brain coming out... There is also alot of name calling and put-down words like pathetic, idiotic, loser, dumb stupid, lame, very sore loser, sucker, fatty, pest, and jerk. Even though I recommend you to wacth this show! (also very edducational!)
