I watch this WITH my third grader. She sees Carly, Sam and Freddie handle situations with grace and wit. They seem to learn from their mistakes. It's not educational, but I don't always watch the Discovery Channel, either. Watch with your kids and talk about what comes up.

Fun to watch with your kids
We love this show - I think the kids are realistic, but still funny. Sam seems harsh, but if you watch enough you see that she is a very loyal friend and has a softer side she doesn't show much. The kids are always trying to do the right thing, but it doesn't always work out. And Spencer is hysterical.

Just give us a decent adult role model in this series.
For the most part this is pure fluff TV and is pretty mindless, but harmless. My 9 year old daughter and 7 year old son find it hilarious. My critique is that there are no strong adult role models in this and some bad ones. Carly's parents are overseas and she is taken care of by a juvenile older brother. Freddy's mom is a characiture of an overprotecive mom, and Sam's mom is mean.

Not for younger viewers.
I was honestly appalled by the behavior of Sam. In the 2 episodes I've seen, she's been a bully, and the kids around her make light of it. I think that while the show may be okay for tweens, it's oversexualized for the younger viewers who all seem to love it.

Obviously not written or produced by parents
This show is so frustrating--I try to teach my kids that they can rely on me and my husband as their parents and other adults in general. The adults in this program are utterly useless, neurotic and just plain stupid. They are horrible role models.

Carly is a very good role model for girls. Freddie is a good, loyal guy (refreshing in this day & time). And though Sam's a little rough around the edges, she's easy to love. Truly appeals to girls & guys of varied ages, even parents laugh it up. My girls & my nephews all love it and so do I. The show always has a lesson & Carly always makes the right choice in the end. Spencer offers the "dumb blonde" though he's brunette, but pops in randomly with very deep insight in doing what's right.

Love it!
Our whole family loves this show. The writing is actually funny to all of us, with rare "iffy" subject matter.

Ok for kids with a little parent intervention.
This is a great show. My six year old loves it. The only problem that I have is that one of the main female characters can be mean and the characters often use whining and/or demands to get their way. But with little explanation, my daughter understands the differance between life and what happens on tv.

Harmless fun
My sons have picked up on this show recently and I have found that I watch it with them. In most cases, I find the characters act normal, meaning that there is no parents being made to look stupid and what little adult interaction is tongue in cheek. What is refreshing is there is no actor pretending they are five years younger than what they are and tilting their head thinking that the cute face will make up for whatever dumb thing they've done. It pretty much fluff t.v. which is fine in small doses. Round out your night with some reading, game time or educational tv and you should be good after watching this, can't say the same about other tween shows.

Good for 8 and up in general, 6 if your kid is socially advanced
Nickelodeon's mostly harmless tween show. For my 6yo, who likes everything from Beethoven to Oingo Boingo, it's pretty light stuff. Characters are snarky with each other, but always make up by the end of the show.

Okay for older kids, absurd for 8 yr olds
I'm very concerned about the amount of kissing, the bra waving, and boob references that occur in this show for tweens, and think that the preponderence of such is definitely sending the wrong message. Already in middle school kids are feeling very pressured to explore their sexual sides in negative ways; this just emphasizes the necessity for doing so. The idea that it's okay for 8 yr olds to start watching and getting these ideas at this age is absurd.

Not ever okay in my house!
I forbid my son to watch this show at our house. He sees it at his cousins. Although the show itself is not awful, there are really disturbing elements. No parental supervision is apparent, kids are broadcasting onto the Internet and there are no safety precautions being taken, and frankly I do not like the way my son speaks to me after watching this show. While there is no profanity, he becomes surly and sarcastic afer seeing these children interact with each other and adults. There is often the undermining of any kind of adult authority.

Fun show
Overall I think it sends positive messages and uses situations to do that, like teasing etc. It is more goofy than serious. Yet still has a point/lesson to learn rather than being just stupid. I see it states about promoting the realife website but I can say that it seems to me that when they refer to logging on to icarly.com on the show that they are talking to the ficticious audience not the real life audience. I have watched this many many times with my son and never once did I get that they were saying for him to login and neither has he. I heard them say it but again thought they were doing it as part of the webshow on the tv show not directing to the real tv viewers. My point anyway is I do not see that as an issue.

I'm probably taking this too seriously, but...
Perfect example of caricatures and slapstick acting substituting for real acting; badly written; but as a parent my biggest complaint is the kids model totally inappropriate behaviour and experience no consequences. I've seen episodes where the main characters lie, cheat, hack into school computers, mock adults (who are actually setting reasonable limits), physically attack folks, etc. - this isn't funny, at least not as written. Parents are conveniently absent, and the vast majority of any other adult authority figures are played as completely stupid and/or evil. I am, believe it or not, a very permissive parent and am all for clever stories about challenging authority, but these stories are not clever, funny or even slyly subversive. This show is not empowering nor educational; it does not show how young people can be positively creative or for that matter, how to creatively challenge authority. It is a tweeners' fantasy come true: adults are stupid and deserve to be thwarted, people who are different deserve to be mocked or hurt, and you get to be a smart@## and not experience any ill effects.

Good stuff. A light healthy comedy. Although sometimes the jokes are grows or inappropiate. I like the friendship the girls carry on with their ups and down their always joyful. They seem they act their age not like other programs that seem to be mini soap operas.

This show sends out a good message. It says that kids can do whatever they put their minds to. Not only is the show entertaining and really funny, but it also aids in the succesful transition from being a kid to being a teenager. When compared to the subject matter of other shows of its kind, iCarly is encouraging and exciting and ACTUALLY clever. I think Parents have a problem with this show because in iCarly, KIDS WIN. That's the defining message. Kids are able to put on their own web show and go on their own adventures WITHOUT the usual stereotypical parental figure to say "No, no, no you shouldn't do that," with a wag of a finger and the shaking of the head. The parental figure in this show is always there to encourage the kids and guide them in whatever THEY want to do. NOT visa versa. Parents may not like that, but when you think about it, what's a better example/rolemodel than kids who are succesful and happy and are loyal friends?

iCarly is a sow that includes two teenage girls and a teenage boy all doing a webshow called iCarly. This TV show is humorous, sometimes violent with Carly's best fried Sam, can include messages about friendship ad dating, and is overall a good children's show.

Crude, Rude, And Too Much Attitude
Personally, as I child, I have many issues with this show. Sure, Carly is a girl who can stick up for herself. The show gets one point for that. Sam is VIOLENT and spontaneously teases and hurts a boy named Gibby in their school. They use Sam's meanness toward him for humor, and I find that very disturbing. About the 'ROMANTIC' factor: I think everyone should be comfortable with the human body, and romance definitely is not a bad thing. In this show, they talk about too much 'love', though. They jump from one boy to another, and say things like 'hot'. Kids should know that to have a successful relationship you can't do that. LANGUAGE: The site says it's not an issue, but it is. It seems the writer's have a lack of vocabulary, because they don't know what a hobo is. They continuously use the word for humor, when it is an actual career. Some people choose to hobo, and others are forced to. A hobo travels and does manual labor. Miranda Cosgrove, they wouldn't have a neighborhood hobo, it would be a neighborhood bum. They use other terms like 'skunkbag'. They aren't considered cursewords, but they are hurtful and should not be used. CONSUMERISM: The show itself has become very popular and is making a lot of money off of its crude humor. In the show, in one episode the iCarly crew is paid money to advertise for a shoe on the show and goes all out in a spending spree. Consumerism=bad. They also DO NOT MAKE GOOD ROLE MODELS. People often show an extreme preference for Carly over the others. However, Carly gossips, uses innapropriate language, and is unkind toward Freddie. One may think that is Sam, but they both are. They tend to tease him, and sometimes they seem like they are being condescending toward him. They influence children in a bad way when the child watching is not mature enough. THE MESSAGES AREN'T GOOD: On occasion, you'll see a lesson in morals in the fine print, but otherwise no. They once go to a man's funeral just to get his pie recipe and stall so they can hack his computer and search it.

Depends.... Both good role models, bad role models
It's... Okay. There are good role models, bad role models, positive messages, negative messages. To me, it's kind of offensive (in my opinion) Often calling people losers if they don't watch ICarly. Sam is a terrible influence, but often gets in trouble for what she did. Also they have no care for serious manners at all. They call people names behind their backs and such. It's been getting better, and actually funnier lately, though.

It's okay, not the best for your kids, although.
I've never watched this show(personally), although I have viewed and listened to it once in a while when my little sister is watching it. I'd consider it to be a lil' on the iffy side, it doesn't exactly have a "positive" message when it comes to good behaviour, it's more-so for entertainment then it is for education. I'd also like to add that every once in a while you may hear(ever so slightly) a bit of bad language which, by now, shouldn't be a problem.
- I rate this title iffy for age 3 and give itMy concerns are:
- Excessive consumerism
- Negative role models
This show got boring and turned into product placement on the 10000th rerun
They're obviously just trying to make money off of a boring show about things that probably shouldn't be attempted by real teenage girls, and they replay the entire series in one day. I can't decide which I'm anticipating more, this show ending, or the economic recetion to end. Not too suprisingly, it's the downfall of iCarly
- I rate this title on for age 8 and give it
