Why We Rated This on for Ages 8 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

The characters always resort to brute force to solve differences. Female characters are outnumbered (within the Storm Hawks squadron, only one of the five is a girl), but they can hold their own with the guys in both strategy and strength.

What to watch out for

  • Violence & scariness:

It's an action-adventure 'toon, so mild peril is common and includes falls from heights (usually broken at the last moment by a teammate's lucky interception), mid-air plane collisions, characters being flattened by falling doors, and brief hand-to-hand combat. No one is killed; mostly they're knocked out or -- in the bad guys' case -- the scene cuts away as they fall into an abyss.
  • Sexy stuff:

A male character fancies himself a ladies' man, so there are occasional references to him being attracted to a particular girl, but that's as far as it goes.
  • Language:

    Not an issue.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

    Not an issue.

What Parents Need to Know

About Storm Hawks

Parents need to know that action-adventure is the name of the game in this cartoon. The characters are constantly getting knocked off their aircraft in midair dogfights, being clobbered by enemies' handheld weapons, and surviving life-threatening collisions -- none of which result in visible injury. A male character's interest in the opposite sex refreshes when a new girl is introduced, but the mild references don't amount to more than a few longing looks.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about role models in TV shows. Which adults, if any, make an appearance in this show? What roles do they play? Can any of them be considered role models for the teen heroes? Why or why not? What's implied by the significant age difference between the Storm Hawks and their adversaries? What message does it send when the youthful good guys always outsmart their more seasoned adversaries?

    Very Good

This show is one of the best I've seen in a long time. My kids love it- their favorite character is Aerrow, one of the main characters. It is very funny, and appropriate for my kids.

    My second favorite show!

This is a very interesting show with outstanding animation. Though after a while, I feel that they should end an episode where the "good guys" don't necessarily win, at least just for a while. Overall, this is one of the 3 shows that I ever watch.

    Impressive!

This is one of the best shows I have seen in a while. The amimation is spectacular, and it really keeps you on the edge of you're seat. It's just a good, clean, action/adventure show.
