This show is great for my son who turns five on 11/28/09. I like it because it is an entertaining alternative from the educational shows that he watches, which are aimed at preschoolers and kindergarteners – as long as your child is not afraid of it. My son loves it as well as other shows rated for 7 and up such as Scooby-Doo (because he is mature enough and he comprehends that there are no real monsters.) I absolutely refuse to let him watch shows with inappropriate language, outright violence and stupidity. I will never understand why people let their kids under the age of 7 or 8 watch Spongebob Square Pants!!

What Parents Need to Know
About Monster Buster Club
Parents need to know that each episode of this action cartoon for tweens culminates in a battle between aliens and four 10-year-old heroes, who use hand-held laser guns (which look more like toys than anything real), laser cannons, and sonic blasters on their enemies. The kids are never injured, but most of the aliens bite the dust by exploding, falling into pieces, or disintegrating. Still, the show is clearly meant as fantasy, and the mood is kept so light -- and the antagonists so non-human -- that the animated violence isn't likely to bother any but the youngest kids. That said, the show is lean on overtly positive messages, so if you're after truly substantive shows, this one probably won't fit the bill.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about whether all kids' TV shows should be educational -- or whether it's OK for some to be "just for fun." Kids: What shows do you like that fall into each category? Could some be in both? Families can also discuss the idea of alien life. Do you think it's likely that there's life in other parts of the galaxy? How do you think people would respond to proof of alien life? How would we treat an alien if one was discovered here?

Entertaining show for age 5 ish - as long as child is not afraid of it - my son loves it as well as other shows rated for 7+ (but I draw the line at naughty and innapproiate language and violence.

- I rate this title iffy for age 5 and give itMy concerns are:
- Excessive violence
OK entertaining show for 5+ year olds. Violence is not bad.
Not educational but my kids love superheroes. I also don't like the kid-based ads that infuse the show, so we DVR it but then I have to be there to fast-forward thru the ads. I wish there were more ad-free options for older kids.
