What Parents Need to Know
About Drake & Josh
Parents need to know that this series is about two very different teenage boys who become stepbrothers when their parents get married. They live above the garage in their fairly ideal upper-middle class suburban home, playing video games, eating chips, and avoiding their little sister's pranks. The series deals with age-appropriate concerns of acceptance and individuality, which both the boys struggle with in and outside the home. Ultimately, the boys learn from one another.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about the issues the show tackles, such as cheating, lying, getting busted for forgery, favoritism within the family, and, of course, girl problems. The program's premise -- divorce breaking families apart and bringing new ones together -- is a very real topic for discussion. Is Drake and Josh's situation realistic? How would it really feel to be brought into a new home with a new mom or dad and new siblings? For kids who've experienced a similar transition: Do you enjoy the lighthearted humor with which Drake and Josh deal with their circumstances?

The show is a comedy stitciom about 2 different step brothers around age 16 who go to the troubles of everyday life. Drake Parker's mother, Audery Parker-Nichols gets married to Josh Peck's (a boy who is very different from him) dad, Walter Nichols. Drake also has a 9-11 year old sister named Megan Parker. Drake has a "D" (50-59%) average in school. He likes to play the guitar and is very good at it. He's stupid and lazy. He dates a lot of Girls and had at least 72 Girlfriends. He is selfish and mean. He also eats too much junk food. Josh on the other hand has an "A" (80-100%) average. He is smart, hardworking, and nice but a little bit wierd. Later in the series, he gets one girlfriend. The only bad point about him is that he plays too much videogames. Megan is a mean sister who keeps on making booby traps for and pranks for her two older brothers. The parents are nice, although Josh's dad is not very smart. See part 2 for more.
