Why We Rated This on for Ages 15 and Up

The good stuff

  • Messages:

    Not an issue.

What to watch out for

  • Violence:

    Not an issue.
  • Sex:

Replete with graphic descriptions of various sexual situations: "My knees are shakin' now / I'm bitin' the sheets / You lovin' me so good, so deep / You be freakin' me." Also: "Regular ain't in my vocabulary / When it comes to love makin', neither is missionary / Positions, girl pick one, better yet, some."
  • Language:

Some hardcore swearing (f--k, n----r) crops up mostly in the rhymes of Foxx's guest artists, though it's not excessive overall.
  • Consumerism:

    Not an issue.
  • Drinking, drugs, & smoking:

In the song "Overdose," Foxx compares his horrible feelings from a bad breakup to the crashing sensations of a drug overdose. "Blame It On the Alcohol" is all about getting drunk ("Blame it on the vodka, blame it on the henny") and having reckless sex.

What Parents Need to Know

About Intuition

Parents need to know that while Jamie Foxx and his many collaborators rein in the swearing, the album includes lots of references to sex -- some of them really raunchy.

Families Can Talk About

  • Families can talk about whether music needs to include sexual references, explicit language, or other adult content to receive a teen's stamp of approval. Is there a qualitative difference between explicit and clean versions of the same song? Will teens get flack from their friends by choosing a clean version over an explicit one?
