I did not at all approve of the main character slapping the monkey.

My son really loved this movie. We saw it on DVD... I think that it would have been much scarier if we would have seen it in the movie theatres though.

Could appreciate and handle better at 7 or 8 yrs old
Good movie. My sensitive 6 yr old ran out of the room when there was a lot of tension (this is always our main problem... tension, dramatic music) but laughed hard at a few parts. Lots of aggression and some violence, but that led to a good talk after about historical violence and aggression in general. We always talk during the movie when characters handle things well ("you hurt my feelings!") and when they don't. The problem was also that I don't think they really enjoyed it very much - they were serious while watching, like it was something to get thru. I think watching at 7 or 8 yrs old would have been better for us.

One thing I wanted to add - my 9-year old just did some conflict resolution training, and we were amazed at how much good conflict resolution and empathy Stiller's character used to get the different characters to act in their own and others' best interest. A nice little talking point.
- I rate this title off for age 4 and give itMy concerns are:
- Excessive consumerism
BOND TRADER AS JOB SECURITY? HA LOL
Why is the father faced with the "get a better job or lose your son," question? Because the mom is engaged to a "bond trader?" How does that sound now?
- I rate this title on for age 17 and give it
always wait
i think the movie had a bit of comedy and drama. it does send a message to the young kids though, the movie says "have patience and what you want will come to you".

Explore Night at the Museum!!!
Movie Review of Night at the museum By KIS - Yuri Isn’t it normal for children to be bored in the museum? By watching this movie, it will change your impression completely. Ben Stiller acts as the main characters Larry. He’s been changing his job frequently, currently divorced with a kid. His ex-wife is about to get married which completes her successful life. While Larry can’t live with his son, Nicky has been upset and points out that Larry doesn’t settle down with a job. Knowing that he has to change this situation, at the same time he knows he has to find a job. With the desperate hope, he gets a job at the American museum of natural history as a night guard. He thought this would be a job until he finds a proper one but this job will end up changing his life positively. On the first shift, the 3 old night guard told him “Not to let anyone in or out.” Confused, Larry had no idea what they were talking about. Seeing everything coming back to life, he understood what they meant. Everything was out of hand but by the help of Teddy Roosevelt (Robin Williams), he survived his first shift. He absolutely loved this job. The first 2 nights have been a disaster and in the morning Nicky sees Larry getting yelled at by his boss. Nicky thinks Larry got fired. Explaining the whole secret of night at museum, Nicky doesn’t believe his dad. Simply, Larry chose to take Nicky with him to work on the 3rd night. In the midnight of 3rd night, the museum laid still and quiet. One of the important aspects of film making is the setting. The story takes most of the place in the American museum of natural history. In the beginning, they show the inside of the normal version of the museum. It makes vivid contrast to lively museum later on. The contrast between still and alive would pull the audience in more to the world of this movie. The other important aspect of filmmaking especially in this movie is CG. As I mentioned before, everything comes back to life in this museum including Tyrannosaur’s fossil’s sample, Egyptian mummies, animals in Africa, and even the little tiny models of people in Roman Empire. Also the key point of the story: Akhmenrah’s (Egyptian pharaoh) golden tablet has power to put life into exhibition in the museum during night. During Larry’s shift, about quarter or more displayed things are made by CG. In the taste of this movie, all the CG fits in. I think you can get a lot out of this movie. The theme can be applied to many people. Also the sub-plot, the relationship between Larry and Nicky is well thought out. Having some very realistic parts in this fantasy, it makes the film more interesting. I would recommend everyone to watch this movie because each of you can get different things out of it.

My 6 year old enjoyed this movie very much. It prompted discussion of history and some of the historical figures featured in the film. The only bad thing was that she took to calling her sister Dum-dum like the Easter Island head did in the movie. Overall, enjoyable for all in the house.

Stupid
This movie was too far fetched for starters. I did not want to see it in the first place because I don't care for Stiller. One thing I caught, made me go HuH? He states at one point that he is making $11.50 an hour at this job. Where in New York can you rent a decent apartment that you would be willing to have your child stay on visitation, on $11.50 an hour? Dumb movie, ONLY part I found amusing was Owen Wilson's little character.

Great Movie!
I thought this movie was great. I even saw it two times. At first I thought you couldn't make a movie about a guy who disdcovers one night that everything comes ot life at night in this museum, but it was much more then that. I think this movie is great and kids can learn a couple of things from this movie. Owen Wilson, Robin Williams, and Ben Stiller are all hilarious and they are all in this movie which makes it so funny. There are also some serious parts in this movie. This movie does really take place at the Museum of Natural History and it is a great museum for this movie. I recommened this movie fo rkids 7 and up.

My 2.5 and 5.5 year old kids really enjoyed this and so did I. My kids love dinosaurs so they were not at all afraid of Rexy running around.

A Classic!!!
What a great concept! A natural history museum that comes to life? My 6 year old and I were laughing out loud, looking at each other in the darkened theater, and then laughing some more. Referring to Mickey Rooney (who has an excellent cameo appearance), she said, "Who is that man, Mommy? He's so funny." Some humor is purely for the adults (e.g. slapping the monkey) and over the heads of the children. I can't wait to buy it on dvd and watch it again.

My kids and I laughed and they couldn't wait to see it again!
This was a great movie! At first it seems a little scary, but then it ends up being funny. It was also educational - without the kids realizing it. The kids wanted to see it again and take Dad - who also liked it a lot. A great family movie. Wish they'd make more like it.

Night at the Museum
It is a very funny movie the whole family will enjoy! There is definatly NOTHING bad about it if your kid is old enough to know that dinasaurs and cavemen aren't real.

I thought this was a cute movie. My kids really enjoyed it and I felt it was a "clean" movie. We actually saw it 3 times!

A pretty funny movie!!!
This movie is a pretty funny movie. There is comic action, and brief language. There are mostly insults, but there is only one bad word in this movie. This movie is appropriate for all kids ages 7-8+. I recommend this movie to kids who like family comedies, history movies, and Ben Stiller and his funny movies.

Fun Kiddie Comedy
A funny kids comedy. Contains frequent comic violence; there's only blood in one scene, where Larry Daley gets smacked by the old night guards (there's a brief open cut on his cheek). The worst bad language there is is when Larry says "Kiss A**". Overall, a fun film that kids will love, and adults can tolerate. I give at 4 out of five.

A great movie for children!
This movie is excellent for children to watch expect they prbably won't understand the main reason why the museum takes its place in the movie. Larry, the main character in the film, is a very big loser. He doesn't support his son and is divorced. Children may not get these kind of things in the movie, but they will obviously like it. I think this movie could've gotten away with a G rating. I hope you (and your kids if you have any) enjoy(ed) the film.

Funny and Fun
There's not much of a plot, but it is very funny and fun for both kids and grown-ups alike. It is pretty clean except for a brief use of the word, "ass", but not in that sense.

Muesum night
i personally enjoyed this movie alot. it had some humor. i loved the monkey the most! this movie was about a boy's dad who had trouble keeping a job for more than a month. in this movie the boys dad got a job at a muesum as a night guard, where he is chased by a dinosaur, attacked by a monkey and is set up so as it looks like he stole a egiptian amulet. my little brother agrees he has this to add, there are 3 men that when it gets dark get super-strength. my little brother also enjoied the party at the end!
