This movie was pretty scary for some kids. A good thing in the movie was that it showed people working together and that boys and girls can be friends. I thought it was a scary movie.

What Parents Need to Know
About Monster House
Parents need to know this is a pretty scary movie, and the last 20 minutes, in particular, take a turn for the dark. With windows like eyes and a flying carpet that unfurls tongue-like out the front door to scoop up trespassers, the house is a wonderfully alive structure. But it's creepy. You don't want your kids waking up in the middle of the night freaked out that their house is going to eat them. Most of the PG content comes from the scariness; there are very few crude jokes or language issues. The kids are in constant peril, and they're not exactly role models. They break and enter, steal cough medicine, operate heavy machinery, and use sticks of dynamite. Likewise, the adults in this movie are creepy –- not just Old Man Nebbercracker, but also the uninterested babysitter, detached parents, and clueless cops.

Families Can Talk About
- Families can talk about what the kids could have done differently.
- When the adults in their lives brush off their concerns about the house, is it okay for them to figure out a solution on their own that puts them in danger?
And where WERE the adults anyway? What should THEY have done differently to help the kids through this situation?

fine for tweens, not for younger kids
I wouldn't want my son to see this if her were under 10. Luckily, he didn't ask questions about references to puberty and drinking and he didn't get the "get off" comment about the babysitter's boyfriend being "on top of her". Movie would have been just as good without these parts. I'll never understand why movie makers feel the need to include this stuff in kid's movies.

- My highlights are:
Not for kids but the perfect animated horror flick for tweens. Monster House shows three young teenagers on a mission to uncover the secrets and horrors of old Nebbercrackers haunted house. Scary scenes and language prevent anyone younger than 9 really enjoy this movie.

You should think twice before taking your child under 10
I think that the previews were very deceiving to consumers. I would not have ever guessed that it would be so scary for my children. I talked to them a bit about it not being real and that it might be a little jumpy, but it was ridiculous, we walked out.

Perfect for the little ones!
this is the best movie EVER!!!!The only thing that kinda got me biting my nails is that they couldve made it a little more apropriate, like the babysitters boyfriend could use some improving. But really, the whole thing was great.Oh and by the way,why is everybody saying this was too scary?i think most kids arent really scared of stuff like that, but im from new york,so corret me if im wrong.

hmm
Did anybody not remeber when Cheddar, or Chowder or whatever says "vulva?" That deserves a PG-13 rating right there. Good entertainment witha valuable lesson, though

CHECK IT OUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to see this movie with my dad when I was 8.I got scared so we left. Then my 4 year old brother watched it a couple years later and he loved it. I think it all depends on the kid if they like scary stuff than if they are under 5 than you should watch it and check it out. If they are over 5 than you should watch with them in the same room.if they get scared of things reallllllly easily don't even bother looking and checking it out. Now i am ten. I get creeped out easily and i am stil a bit creeped out from the movie when i see it.

Too scary for kids under 10
We watched this with my 6 year old. I was absolutely appalled at the scene with the babysitter making out with her boyfriend on the couch. Absolutely unnecessary to the film and completely not appropriate. The beer guzzling boyfriend was no picnic either. In the end the plot was fine for a kids movie, but it was so scary that my son is still afraid of the furnace in our utility room a year later. And this is the same kid who rode the Tower of Terror 3 times at Disney. I don't recommend it for young kids.

HATED IT - NOT FOR CHILDREN - NOT FOR ANYONE
The animation is horrendous, what the characters do is awful, what they say is terrible. What nerve to target this to children. I suppose it is easier to produce garbage these days then quality. It was repulsive.

Creepy old Monster house
I'm telling you the truth here, I put iffy on EVERYTHING! (Yellow thing for non-members info) There is some mild sex because about love, mild strong langauge, mild...well, mild probally everything in movie certificates! Ok, about the plot: 3 kids have a fear about a house about one of their friend's over the road house...It's monster house! At one point, there is noone inside the house but one of the kids keeps getting called from the creepy house of the road! SPOOKY! Overall: Good mild scary film for a first watch at a creepy film!
